Charming atmosphere and seriously good food

The Bull at Wargrave

A 15th Century former coaching inn, bursting with character and charm; the general decor boasts a wealth of beams, cosy corners, amusing pictures and odd levels. We have two lounge bars, one with a large working inglenook fireplace providing a huge crackling log fire during the winter, and there are also two dining rooms, one overlooking the garden which is ideal for parties, buffets and small functions.

We have a deserved excellent reputation for serious food, Jayne’s Sunday Roast being a firm favourite and for the beer lovers we serve fine Brakspear Ales, including a regular Guest Ale along with wide selection of quality wines. The kitchen is open every day but closes on Sunday and Monday evenings. However, for parties of 8 and above we will be very happy to open the kitchen for you on Monday nights. but a minimum of 48 hours notice would be required.

Opening Times

SATURDAY and SUNDAY - the bar is open all day.

WEEKDAYS, we are open from Noon to 3pm and from 6pm to 11pm.

FOOD is available from Noon to 2.30 (3.30 on Sunday) and again from 6.30 until 9.30, but please note these timings can be amended without notice.

Lots of character in this pub with good food as well
The pub has different areas of different character; we sat in the "library" and read some classic books while waiting for our food. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Sunday Lunch
A very enjoyable lunch was had by our part of six. We all had the roast, beef and lamb complete with a variety of veg. The plateful of food was enormous and well cooked and presented, so much food in fact that the ladies couldn't finish their meal.

Cosy, friendly pub!
I went here last Friday night for a meal without booking a table - friendly staff, and good pub food but with limited choice. Traditional decor with a fire - I imagine this is a cosy place to visit in the winter!
